Meet the Chef

I wasn’t born a chef. I was born a Montana kid who spent countless hours wandering river bottoms, cottonwood groves, and mountain trails with my eyes on the ground, learning our beautiful land.


Over the years, I’ve fallen in love with Montana’s wild places. The smell of damp earth after spring rain. The quiet of the woods. The thrill of spotting that first morel pushing through the leaves.


Today, I bring that experience to the table. Every dish is an opportunity to share a story—of the land, the seasons, and the people who make Montana such a special place to call home.


I am a father of two and have the wonderful privilege of watching my dream come true with our family-run restaurant.

From the Range to Your Table

At River & Range Bistro, every dish begins with a simple belief: exceptional ingredients deserve exceptional care.


We are proud to source our beef from McCafferty Ranch, where Montana-raised cattle are nurtured on the same landscapes we call home. From premium cuts of beef to the freshest seafood we can find, every ingredient is chosen with purpose and respect.


Much of our produce, herbs, and seasonal vegetables come from Red's Root Cellar, a local family-owned farm that shares our commitment to quality, sustainability, and community. Their harvests inspire our menus and connect each plate to the seasons of Montana.


Our pasta is handcrafted in-house, made fresh with the same attention to detail that defines every part of our kitchen. Each morning, our desserts are baked and prepared from scratch, ensuring that every meal ends with something made with care.


We believe food tells a story. It tells the story of the rancher raising cattle beneath Montana skies, the farmer tending the soil through changing seasons, and the families who dedicate themselves to their craft.
